I'm looking for guest bloggers for my new blog Midlife Maverick. Can you tell me whats the best way to go about this and any pitfalls to be aware of?

Here are some ways I can think of to get guest bloggers. The answer partly depends on whether you're looking for well-known names in a particular space, or if you just need some well written articles by anyone.

  • Write a post on your blog asking for guest bloggers. Let people know what your standards and review process will be. Get the word out on Twitter, Facebook, etc.

  • Hold a writing contest on your site where you'll run the top few entries. This may be difficult if you have a new blog.

  • Write bloggers directly who you enjoy reading and ask them if they would like to submit a guest post. You could also offer to do a guest post swap.

  • Post a paid gig ($30 to $75 is typical per post I believe) on some of the blogger job boards.

Thanks Corbett. I'll do point one straight away and look into point four. This is a great site. Thanks – Colin Nov 11 at 22:20
